The purpose of Validation Estimation and Editing (VEE) is to ensure Meter Read data is valid and usable for further operations, particularly for processing of Billing Determinants.
NITES MDM provides highly adjustable VEE, enabling users to customize existing VEE rules and create new rules and estimation algorithms. Therefore, through NITES MDM, it is possible to configure VEE rules to comply with any type of metering code.

VEE is supported with wide range of flags, that range from flagging validation failures, determining category of failures, required estimation routines, to flagging validated data and estimation or editing techniques used in the process.

MDMS provides UI to manage configuration of VEE services, algorithms, rules and checks.

Validate/Edit Single NVE Interval

User navigates to Service Request/Activity for NVE (Needs Verification or Editing) activities created by the validation and estimation processes. Graphical editing is launched from NVE activity screen and user verifies or edits the NVE interval data value. User comments can be added to NVE activity.

Edit Using Historical Reference Channel

User navigates to Service Request/Activity for NVE activities created by validation and estimation processes. Graphical editing is launched from NVE activity screen and user chooses to use historical data by specifying starting date for reference channel to verify or edit NVE interval data. User comments may be added to NVE activity.

Edit Using Class Load Profile

User navigates to Service Request/Activity for NVE activities created by validation and estimation processes. Graphical editing is launched from NVE activity screen and user chooses to use historical data specifying Class Load Profile Channel to verify or edit NVE interval data. User comments may be added to NVE activity.



NITES MDM provides meter readings and billing determinants management to other Utility Service Provider’s systems. This process consists of two distinct operations:

  • Billing determinants framing – generation of daily billing determinants, and
  • Billing determinant processing – summation of daily billing determinants in order to provide billing determinant for a particular time frame

As the billing determinant processing completes a set of billing determinant data for a particular SDP, billing data export process loads the completed billing determinant data into the appropriate billing response files for export to the Billing System


NITES MDM is to be understood as the integration platform for all Utility IT systems. Therefore it is capable of storing any and all types of data specified by the client.  This functionality allows choosing readings that represent “best data available“ at a particular moment, considering the fact that it stores readings’ versions.

Reports available in NITES system are based on the principle of multi-parameter user queries (static and dynamic). Static reports involve existence of reports created by predefined parameters. Dynamic reports involve defining additional user reports by the principle of multi-parameter choice and by different reporting periods (days, weeks, months, years).

All reports in NITES MDM are configurable and available based on three types of reports generation:

  • Reports based on scheduled intervals,
  • Reports triggered by events, and
  • Reports on demand by MDM’s system administrator.


Controlling who can update and access information is a critical component of NITES MDM. The relationships between SDPs and LDCs, AMI Operators, Billing Agents, and other interested parties, control not only access to data but also processing within the MDM.

MDM system security functions rest on three major elements:
